1. Our Role and Your Data
Verifi is a tool designed to help you retrieve and manage your insurance policy information. To provide this service, we act as an Authorised Agent to facilitate data retrieval from third-party insurers.
- No Sale of Data: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
- Service Providers: We use trusted service providers (such as Google and Meta) to analyse website traffic and deliver relevant advertising. These partners process metadata (such as button clicks) rather than the sensitive contents of your insurance reports.
2. Tracking, Cookies & Advertising
To improve your experience and reach more South Africans who need our tool, we use tracking technologies including the Meta Pixel, Google Tag, and LinkedIn Insight Tag.
- Remarketing: We use cookies to show relevant ads to users who have previously visited Verifi. For example, if you visited the website to request your free report, you may see an advert reminding you to complete your request.
- What we track: We track ‘Events’ (e.g. that a report was requested). We do not share your ID number, financial values, or specific policy details with advertising platforms.

3. Cross-Border Data Flows (POPIA Section 72)
While Verifi is a South African company and your core policy data is processed locally, our website utilises global analytics and advertising infrastructure to maintain our service quality.
- International Processing: Website usage metadata (such as your IP address and site interactions) may be transferred to and stored on secure servers located outside of South Africa (primarily in the US and EU) for the purposes of optimisation and advertising performance.
4. Automated Processing Disclosure
Verifi uses automated systems to match your identity with records held by participating insurers.
- Clarification: Under Section 71 of POPIA, you have rights regarding automated decision-making. Please note that Verifi facilitates data retrieval only. Our tool does not make ‘legal or significant decisions’ about you (such as determining your eligibility for insurance or setting premiums). It simply finds and displays existing information.

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold.
- Correction: Request that we update or correct inaccurate information.
- Objection: Object to the processing of your data for direct marketing.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
